Going Through Airport Security with a Joint Implant

One of the most common questions that Dr. Vigdorchik gets asked by patients who are scheduled for a joint replacement, or who have already received one, is: “will I still be able to go through TSA?”

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is here to keep you and other travelers safe. That means that they thoroughly check each person’s luggage and person. This is done to ensure that no prohibited items are allowed onto the plane. Thankfully, your joint implant is not a prohibited item.

However, you will need to take a few extra steps to make sure that your time with airport security before your flight is as uncomplicated as possible.

Dr. Vigdorchik wanted to share this video with all of his patients so that they can best understand how to alert the TSA of their implant to make getting to your flight on time simple and stress-free.
